Changing Habits And Mastering Routine

You may have heard that your morning routine can set the tone for your day and that your morning routine is something you should pay attention to. I totally agree, but here’s the thing, to be truly successful it’s about your daily routine. Yes, your whole day and how you map it out.

You see to be a successful rugby player they don’t just become that with the first few hours of the day. It’s the entire routine of their day and in fact their life at that time. Day in and day out. Now I am not suggesting you turn your life upside down and quit your job. However to be a successful rugby player takes more than an hour routine in the morning, it’s the training 2 times a day, it’s getting the right sleep and rest around the training and nutrition. Plus mindset and competitions. They wouldn’t be top athletes if it was just a morning routine.

Now I know this is an extreme example, but the point I am trying to explain is to achieve your goals no matter what they are, it’s not just about your morning routine. Its how you structure your day too. The choices you make, the sacrifices you make. It’s dedicated your routine to helping you get closer to those goals. You must become an action taker and a doer, not just a dreamer and talker. ⠀⠀

So if your goal is business, personal or your riding, think about what changes you can make to your routine to support your goals. This could be as simple as going to bed early so you can wake up and ride. For me personally, I start work at 5am so that I can ride at 10am. I work every evening and we don’t own a TV.

So ask yourself what are your daily habits that are helping you step closer to your goals.

“People don’t decide their futures, they decide their habits and their habits decide their futures. It’s our habits that create our daily life and our daily life that creates our future.”

One of the best ways to improve yourself is by changing your habits. This is something I work on consistently and aim to try and improve.

Over 55% of the decisions we make each day are subconscious habits, so you want to make sure your intentionally building the rights ones. Building habits can be tough, but they don’t stay tough forever, there is a process and if you stick with it, it gets easier.

When you start to build a habit (point A), the habit requires a tonne of effort and mental energy to execute, but the more you repeat the habit (point B) the easier it gets.

Then eventually you’ll get to a stage (point C) where the habit becomes sub-conscious and actions become automatic.

Once you get past the habit line, the less you have to think about it the habit is formed and is easily part of your routine without requiring extra will power to commit.

Never underestimate the power of a habit.

If you want to improve yourself and improve your full day routine the best thing you can do today is focus on building one new positive habit.
